Two members of staff at St Peter’s Court Care Home, Jean Johnson and Carol Young, are celebrating a combined forty years of service.
Jean has worked in the laundry since the Home opened in September 1996. Twenty years later - and now just 79 years young! – Jean is still enjoying her work and has no plans to retire anytime soon. Must be something in the detergent!
Jean commented: “I really enjoy working at St Peter’s. Everyone is very friendly – we’re like one big family. I can’t imagine not coming to work!’
Carol Young, whose twenty years comes up in December, has worked her way up from Care Assistant to Senior Carer, and is currently Acting Deputy Manager while the Deputy Manager is on maternity leave. Carol suffered a heart attack in 2013, but couldn’t stay away for long and was soon back in the swing of it, working as hard as ever.
Carol commented: ‘I really enjoy my work, and St Peter’s has allowed me to build a career. I’m really proud of that and grateful for all the support I’ve received.”
Manager Wendy Charlton said: “We actually have three residents who are younger than Jean! She’s a real live wire – I hope I have that much energy when I get to her age! Jean and Carol are both dedicated, hardworking members of the team, and St Peter’s is a better place for them working here. Congratulations to them both!”
