St Martha’s resident, Lillian Bushell, recently saw her son John and daughter-in-law, and had a nice chat with them. Nothing unusual about that, you might think, except that they live thousands of miles away in Canada!
Thanks to the power of digital technology, Lillian was able to make contact via Skype, which meant that she could see John and his wife as well as hear them. She hadn’t seen them for two years, so Lillian was over the moon!
John also spoke to his Dad William, who lives at St Martha’s. William recognised him straight away. Lillian was very grateful to the Home for arranging for her to use the technology. She said, “When I was young not many people even had a phone in their home. It’s amazing how things have changed. It was so nice to be able to see John and his wife again after all this time.”
St Martha’s Manager, Ben Barkat commented, ’It was really nice to see Lillian and William so excited and happy. I’m so pleased we were able to arrange this for them, and I hope we can do it again soon.”
