When Margaret, a resident at our Princes Court home in North Shields, found out her granddaughter, Christina was getting married she was over the moon with happiness and excitement, but then Christina had to break the news to her grandma that the wedding would be in Italy and as much as it pained her to admit it, Margaret just wasn't going to be able to travel the 1,250 miles to the wedding....
So, with the help of Margaret's daughter (Christina's mother) Judith, a plan was hatched with our wonderful home administrator Lisa, a live stream of the wedding so that Margaret would feel as though she was spending this very special day with her family. Lots of technology options and ideas were put on the table, "shall we skype on a computer", "is a lounge the best option from a signal perspective, or is Margaret's room", "will a computer signal be strong enough for the whole ceremony".
A decision was finally made to move one of the homes Smart TVs into the hairdressing salon and hook a laptop up to this to avoid any unnecessary signal interruptions, then Judith decided that using her Sky now box would make the signal stronger, so she dropped this off at Princes Court before flying to Italy to be with Christina.
Not content with hiding some Prosecco and cake away from Margaret until the big day, Lisa and Sharon from our Princes Court team took it upon themselves to turn the salon into a wedding reception venue for Margaret to truly feel like she was spending the day with her beautiful granddaughter and the rest of her family.
We are delighted to let you know that the WiFi signal worked like a dream with Margaret and her friend Liz having a fabulous and emotional afternoon watching Christina marry the love of her life, there were tears of course they were tears!
